The Rombeiro’s Christmas House

Happy Holidays from the Rombeiro's
Ed, Mary Jo and Kathy!

We welcome you to our 20th year of Open House and we hope that you enjoy!

We would like to thank the thousands of visitors from our Community in Novato and to those that have traveled far, to come see our home and to capture a little piece of "The Christmas Spirit".

Fun Facts:
For 20 years we have opened our home to the public. We have been on all local news stations and newpapers. The house is decorated with 130,000 light bulbs inside and outside. Every room is decorated in the house except for the Master Bedroom.
We start decorating in August through December (5 months).
PG&E bill in December is about $4000. Over 37,000 visitors and Candy Canes passed out ever year. Only house where you can tour the inside as well.

“This is the best Christmas House
in Marin!”
Bobby Grabrian — Native Marinite

A long time ago:
There was a family who lived on a Portuguese Island called “The Azores.” This family is known as “The Rombeiro’s” consists of 10. Christmas was a very special time for one of the boys. Every year Edmundo would help his mom, Maria, setup the Christmas tree and build a manager with lava rock, since the island was a volcanic island. Christmas wasn’t about gifts, for them it was about family, it was about giving.
Forty-two years ago Edmundo and Mary Jo began their life here in the US and Kathy was born, their only child. Edmundo wanted to pass on to their daughter the “Christmas Traditions” he knew from back home. Together Edmundo and Kathy (the main decorators of the Christmas House) transformed their home into a “Christmas Winter Wonderland,” a true magical experience which today is known as “The Christmas House.”

Enjoy The Tour!
Begin with “The Three Wise Men” and the Beauty and Poise of the Peacocks. HO HO HO it’s Santa Clause’s “Never Stop Believing.” Walk through “The Candy Can Arch” to the breathtaking “Deer Glistening through the Snow.” Mr. & Mrs. Clause and Carolers in the Traditional Victorian Family Room.
Are you ready to catch the “Holiday Train?” “Welcome Aboard!” next stop, “The Christmas Carnival.” Enjoy a moment in Mary Jo’s kitchen, chat with the Rombeiro’s, take a picture and please sign the Guest Book. Enjoy the hallway walls of “Our Family.” Now you enter the room dedicated to the family Heritage, “Sao Miguel, Azores” – Grandma, this one is for you.
